The Aspen Music Festival and the school are canceling the in-person winter music series originally scheduled to be held at the Harris Concert Hall in February due to the tightening of public health restrictions in the area due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus. The festival announced on Tuesday that the performance will be changed to be played online for free.

The statement said: "Although we all miss music very much, we have been closely monitoring the local public health situation and discussions with the Pitkin County Health Commission." "Due to the latest information, we decided to hold the winter music concert in February this year. Presented in virtual form."

These shows can be watched for free on aspenmusicfestival.com.

Tickets for the face-to-face series were originally scheduled to go on sale on Wednesday.

The series will begin on February 11th, with violinist Robert McDuffie and Aspen Music Festival music director Robert Spano performing piano performances. Repeat on February 12.

The festival alumni pianist Tengku Irfan (February 18) continued, and Calder Quartet (February 25) ended. All performances are scheduled to start at 6:30 pm

The festival spokesperson said that the three artists will not go to Aspen, but will perform solo concerts from their home studios or closer concert halls instead of performing at Harris Hall as planned.

The festival has plans to produce virtual broadcasts of performances, regardless of whether live audiences are allowed. After the 2020 live performances were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival established an online platform and produced a series of live recorded virtual concerts.

Since the end of the winter music series in February 2020, it has not hosted a live concert.
