The new J-wing of Cedar Ridge High School.

The ribbon has been cut, and the shiny new material for Cedar Ridge High School is finally completed. To complete the building, all you need is students. As long as there is enough security to allow high school students to resume attending classes in person, J-Wing will present exquisite "Welcome Back" gifts.

The principal of Cedarridge High School Carlos Ramirez said: "The process of making this project a reality is full of emotions and emotions." "First, it will be the community that provides advice: teachers, faculty Workers, students, parents, community members. It starts with a central question: how can we make this new space a safe environment where students feel creative and innovative and think outside the box. I want to thank taxpayers for supporting this project. Without their support, we would not be here."

Ramirez cut the ribbon with Orange County School Director, Dr. Monique Felder, and School Board Chairman Hillary MacKenzie. Ramirez, along with other school staff and students, took a group trip to the building.

Cedar Ridge's expansion project was approved in March 2018. Construction began in July 2019. After the expansion, the capacity of high school students will increase from 1,050 to 1,500 students.

Ramirez added: "I appreciate the forward thinking of building this space before the students come here." "Sometimes you will have to build a community because of the cracks in the community. This community is thinking about future plans, now We have prepared the students."

The building provides plenty of natural light and technology. Almost every piece of furniture is movable and can be redesigned, folded or stacked for convenient storage. There are 24 teaching "stations" around the center of the building, and a large number of seating areas in the learning area. Wooden terrace seats can accommodate up to 100 students (published by Covid). A huge 30-foot high whiteboard provides enough visual space for teaching.

"No words," Superintendent Fedel said. "I was just shocked by this increase. Plans, hopes, hopes, dreams and everything. I am excited for our students, excited for our employees, and excited about the community and the great work that will happen here. Right on the moon."

Flexibility is the key to the J-wing. There are many tables and chairs that can be rearranged to suit small or large group courses. Some classrooms even have counters outside for students to discuss in class. Windows enables teachers to monitor counter meetings.

Hillary MacKenzie, chairman of the school board, said: “The new flank of Cedar Ridge Highlands is both open and bright. Everything is state-of-the-art.” “During this difficult period, it shines as a symbol of hope, Together we recall our bright future. This is a commitment to learning and community building that will happen in space."

Each level has small meeting rooms, some of which have large windows. Various classroom types have been designed to enhance different learning and teaching styles.

The designer also considered safety. A fire protection zone has been added to the parking lot on the left side of the building. There is also a small building on site, which is equipped with fire fighting equipment and materials.

Orange County Commissioner Brenda Stephens said: "I am very happy to see this project come to fruition." "It took a long time, a lot of planning and a lot of work. It's definitely worth it. "
