If the entire board of directors follows the recommendations of the executive committee, the Barron County Board of Supervisors will be reorganized.

"We are absolutely behind the technology curve," County Administrator Jeff French told the committee.

He said that improvements were clearly needed at the recent board meeting. Some supervisors attended the meeting in person, while others attended the meeting virtual.

The French said: "As the members of the county council fully understand, the August county council meeting we held was actually almost a disaster." "To correct this problem, Okey employees and the chairman held a meeting with Audio Architects. Discussed and reviewed possible solutions."

These options include:

• Fixed table array, so that each member can use microphone to speak and speaker to listen. The French say that fixed tables or desks will save the county several years compared to movable platforms.

• Inverted horseshoe-shaped setup, which means that the auditorium will adopt a horseshoe-shaped design, and members of the county council will look south to the auditorium seats. The French say that this design only requires two fixed cameras to save money in the county.

The county chief said that CBS Squared has completed other design projects for the auditorium, and they will give the supervisors something within 2 weeks.

He said that as far as he understands, the technical cost of the project can be deducted from the state's "Road to Rejuvenation" grant program. The actual construction or reconstruction of the physical location will be undertaken by the county. He proposed to adjust the proposed 2021 emergency fund of 350,000 US dollars.

The French reminded the committee that the county used Audio Architects in court for technical work and their recommendations were perfect.

He added: "I want to point out that this is the third time I have proposed substantial infrastructure improvements to the auditorium in Barron County in 20 years. They were rejected the first two times. I am very much about this. Investment, the most important thing is that we need to move forward into the 21st century."

Chairman Louie Okey agreed that the August meeting was “ashamed and embarrassing”. He said: "Without this, our public will not be able to fully understand what is happening."

Committee member Bun Hanson proposed that CBS Squared and Audio Architects propose a technology upgrade plan.
