This year, Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful will hold the Upcycle Art Contest until the annual Spring Eco Fling on February 27.

"This year KCCB chose to host Eco Fling as a mixed event," said Roxanne Flores-Achmad, executive director of KCCB. "By holding art exhibitions, our young people can show their artistic skills and allow KCCB to reach other audiences. We have chosen the theme "Upcycle Art" so that participants can include items they may have at home."

According to UpcycleThat.com, upcycled recycling is defined as the reuse of discarded or discarded items and then reuse them for other purposes, which usually makes their function or appearance more beautiful than they were originally.

The difference between upgrading and recycling is that upgrading gives items a new purpose, while in recycling, paper, plastic, glass and other items are broken down for reuse.

The registration time is February 25th (Thursday), and you need to get off at the Copocas Bay Civic Center at 1206 B Avenue between 3 pm and 4:30 pm.

The guidelines for works of art state that each work cannot exceed 2.5 feet x 4 feet.

Any medium is acceptable, including pencils, crayons, charcoal, pens and inks, pastels, paint, paper, clay, fabrics, plastics, rubber, found materials, craft materials and metals. Each entry must reflect the "Upcycle Art" theme.

Each student can only sign up once. The student’s name must be printed on the back, along with the student’s school, grade, email address and a valid phone number. Unrecognizable text or missing entries will cause the entry to fail.

Since the winning works will be hung on the wall of the Civic Center with putty, students are encouraged to use heavier paper if possible. Items that cannot be hung (such as sculptures) will be displayed on the table instead.

All students living in the Copperas Cove Independent School District are eligible to participate.

The judging will take place on February 26. When the artwork is being reviewed, parents, teachers or children are not allowed to enter the room.

The winners will be selected in four different departments, including the second grade of junior high school; the third to fifth grade of elementary school; middle school and high school. The winner will receive a $20 gift card and trophy. The third place winner will receive a $15 gift card and trophy. The third place winner will receive a $10 gift card and trophy.

At 11:30 am on February 27 (Saturday), the winners and prizes were announced at the Spring Eco Fling Conference held at the Copperas Cove Civic Center.

After Spring Eco Fling, the winning works will be displayed in the Copperas Cove Public Library before May 1.
