OHIO celebrates Black History Month with virtual events

Ohio State University will celebrate 2021 Black History Month through a series of virtual events, including a keynote speech by senior political strategist Donna Brazile on February 16. 

“For our OHIO community, Black History Month is an excellent opportunity to celebrate black heritage, encourage reflection and restore our resilience in the face of current challenges,” said Dr. Gigi Secuban, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion. "Although we are living in a global pandemic that has a disproportionate impact on black communities (and other communities of color), it is especially important to celebrate the rich and vibrant contributions that blacks have made to our culture and democracy. . I thank all dedicated students, alumni and faculty and staff for their unremitting efforts. I appreciate all their efforts to make our campus more diverse and inclusive."


According to the African American Life and History Research Association, the founder of Black History Month, "Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity."

Brazile is also a contributor to Fox News, and was a contributor to ABC News and CNN. She won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Show "Good Morning America" ​​(2016-2017) for her work at ABC. She also served as a joint newspaper columnist and prolific writer for Universal U'Click, with articles in almost all major newspapers in the United States. She is the founder and managing director of Brazil & Associates LLC, a general consulting, grassroots advocacy and training company based in Washington, DC.
