The renovation concept of this sacred auditorium is based on three main elements: the ceiling, the marble base and the cross and the connection to the chapel behind. We hope that the entire lower auditorium will be presented with the same material. This is the key part of the concept. It is also important that the materials used are natural materials, and it symbolizes the product of nature and time. In addition to the tonality of travertine, its beauty is that it is a substance. During its formation, travertine allows the natural elements of water to pass through and leave traces in the entire substance. This process symbolizes that the audience in the auditorium is absorbing the holy words being received.

The pattern passing through the travertine wall gradually faded out to the audience, representing the sacred word spread from the stage, which was silently accepted by the audience. On the stage, you can see that the patterns cut from the travertine walls are denser. This, together with the new shapes and new shapes of the travertine walls on both sides, attracts the audience, allowing them to focus on the reasons for appearing in the space-listening to the speaker, thinking on the cross, watching the screen or admiring St. George Preca’s Churches and relics. The ceiling design must be practical and symbolic. Access to the ceiling and ease of use are greatly restricted. Therefore, we hope to design a ceiling that is both practical and an integral part of the entire project. We want to create a ceiling made up of many small elements that form a large dynamic volume that seems to float above the entire auditorium. The ceiling symbolizes the museum society, it is composed of many different members of different ages, and together they form a movement. The waveform is designed to have the lowest peak above the stage, followed by the cross and the relics of St. George Preca established by the society.

All these elements are harmoniously integrated in a space, symbolizing the journey of the earth where we were born and grown, and the paradise where we live forever. From the beginning to the end of the journey, we are full of a strong sense of responsibility and respect for the space, while constantly remembering the value of our customers and the value of future members who follow us. We hope that the auditorium will become the second hometown of every member, regardless of their age and occupation. This is why our concept must evoke eternity and belonging. This is the spirit we have always followed as a studio.
