In this central hall colony near Edenridge in Wilmington, Megan Gorelick Interiors was invited to redesign the first floor. The rest of the house has been renovated. For an active family of five, the kitchen and dining room will fully reflect the spirit of the house, and the commission has aroused great interest. The new client is familiar with Gorelick's work and confidently tells her to "do your thing."

It turns out that this "thing" is a stylish but durable kitchen and dining area, designed with versatility in mind, and can be used for convenient and quick dinners, football parties and holiday parties. "They want to provide a place for busy families to gather together," Gorelick said. The result is an open, modern style, flowing smoothly, but with obvious refined moments. The kitchen itself has a rustic feel, but it also takes into account the well-designed fashion sense, which is largely due to its impeccable quartzite countertops and backsplash.

They want a home that everyone welcomes.

Gorelick explained that the rich stone surface "has a classic look and will age" and can be used well with walnut islands and custom wooden high stools wrapped in vinyl. Gorelik pointed out: "If a child's friend shows up, we will even put a padded stool on the edge of the island." "They want a home that everyone welcomes." Other details include stained oak floors and custom cabinets ( Made by Goebel, Pennsylvania) and three lantern pendants purchased from Visual Comfort.

Quartzite countertops and backsplashes combine stylish looks and durability, while wooden floors and warm walnut tones add a rustic touch to modern kitchens.

The transition restaurant achieves the same balance: it is certainly not rustic, but it is also not particularly formal. It is both stimulating and inviting, and is fixed by a table consisting of a cylindrical concrete base and a round glass countertop. The custom-made blue and white dining chair is made of Crypton high-performance fabric, which has an attractive design: a loose and slender variant of the Greek key, picked up from Gorelick’s living room armchair, covered with a similar pattern Fabric.

The traditional restaurant adjacent to the kitchen is equally laid back. Its cylindrical concrete and glass tables and geometric chairs give it a modern feel, while straw wall coverings provide elegant warmth.

The straw cloth wall material of the dining room gives what Gorelick describes as a "slightly shimmering elegant dinner", while the metallic paint on the ceiling makes the night fall and looks extra delicate. Gorelick explained that the goal was to create a candlelit room suitable for festive dinner parties. (The chandelier also comes from Visual Comfort, and the transparent window decorations are custom-made.) When it is necessary to work with the contractor on the woodwork, what appears is a modern transformation of the traditional-this quality is balanced to the aesthetics of the kitchen pay tribute. . The type of permanent functionality required in both rooms seems to be rarely designed this way.
