To the Movies... Or Your Couch? - mxdwn Movies

I miss the cinema. I miss the physical act of going to the movies. I miss the time spent with friends, waiting in line, figuring out the seats, my heartbeat speeding up when the screen disappears and the Studio network logo appears. As the pandemic continues, what is sad is the question of whether movie theaters can survive. This question is already on the table... But let us become a reality...

Long before the emergence of the coronavirus, the number of people watching movies has decreased, or more specifically, I think I should say movies

-pedestrian. For me, I think there is no doubt about it: theaters are better in every possible situation. I think the above description is clear. There is nothing more interesting, satisfying or fulfilling than watching a movie in a theater. But, yes, it’s great to park yourself on the sofa, put some popcorn, pour some wine, watch a movie, and relax. There is nothing wrong with just wanting to stay here. The problem is that people want to live long before COVID.

Streaming media is not a new thing that has become popular because of isolation, but just what we have. So, of course, Netflix, Disney Plus, and most recently HBO will start streaming movies from theaters...Similarly, this is not new. For example, before the world closed, Netflix released streaming movies and movie theaters. With the latest announcement of "Dune", which will be released on HBO and in theaters at the end of this year, and the operations of services like Amazon and Netflix before quarantine, you can't convince me that this is 100% related to COVID...

There is an ongoing problem with the future of cinemas. Will they open the backup? Will the company itself survive? If they can survive, do people just need to be scattered around the theater? However, concerns or questions about how long the theater can last have been surfacing before 2020. In contrast to watching movies on the big screen, the world has been forcing viewers to stay at home (except for COVID-19). If the audience agrees... why do they continue to stay at home?

Isn't this the obvious reason? You can wear comfortable clothes, order food, rent movies, browse streaming options... this has become the definition of "chilling". Although it depends on the movie itself, staying in it will bring a different experience. To be fair, staying here is not an experience, but convenience. Most importantly, it is easier and cheaper... which brings me to the next reason-

Yes... this is another obvious answer. When people say why they don’t go to the movies anymore (which is obviously before the COVID), this seems to be the answer I often hear. My own mother even told me once that she has no poor money to spend. Ticket prices for movies have risen in the past few years. Why spend money to go out when you can stay at home? If it is not currently streaming, it will eventually be streamed.

Logically, this makes sense.

There are multiple reasons for viewers to wait until the movie streaming or streaming is free (for example, the live-action version of "Mulan" on Disney Plus). The point is, if you really want to watch a movie, it will cost you money. Therefore, if you are not in a hurry to go to the cinema, then you may not want to watch a movie right after it is released, which is okay.

Overall, before the pandemic, the decline in movie theater audiences meant that people seemed to have decided to actually go to the movies. I don't necessarily think those audiences will suddenly come back to the theater under normal circumstances. But fortunately, we are not in a normal living environment. Everything is gone, everything is different, what will come back? What will change? Is the lack of choice the real fundamental problem here? Would those who usually prefer to watch movies at home want to return to the theater? Why should anyone go back?

This is a very obvious fact, but it is true, please think twice. You can’t convince me that the theater really reopened that day, the world has returned to normal, and people will not go to the movies anymore. Yes, I know this is a trivial argument, but I do think it is a valid argument. Take time, put on real clothes, buy tickets, enjoy the preview (I wouldn't be surprised if you like trailers), take a break and fully immerse yourself in the story (if you like). In addition to getting out of the house, the cinema also provides other services—

Watching at home is incomparable to watching in the theater. People obviously have preferences, but in

You can't convince me that it's obviously no better to be alone. Watching a movie in the cinema

Experience. I can't necessarily say that watching a movie at home is not or impossible in itself as a major event. But seriously... sitting on popcorn or red vines, chatting, chatting, eating snacks, checking the phone to know what time it is (then turn it off...), the lights suddenly dimmed...and sitting in the living room and dialing Move the switch to leave instead...not

the same. The excitement is gone. Yes, you can say that there is no need for specific stimulation, just watching movies is very important. But guess what? Distracted. Get up to go to the bathroom, grab food, etc. Even if you keep playing while doing other things, it is not like a theater.

I am easily distracted. I tend to stop and watch movies, think about what I just saw, or think about other things, wait, wait, wait. This doesn't seem like a bad thing... But usually I need a longer time to watch the movie.

I admit that sometimes I go to the cinema, there is a specific scene, if I am at home, I will stop. Although it is inaccessible for viewing purposes, it means you can enjoy the story anytime, anywhere

When I look at new things, especially the first time I look at new things, I want to concentrate. I want to concentrate, concentrate on. Well, well, if I’m watching a particularly bad, slow, and boring movie, watching it at home or in the theater may not help (except at home, you can change other things, but the movie at home, unless you feel sick or at all Can't sit there anymore, or do you really have to get up and leave?). My overall view is that the theater forces you to sit there, close your brain (depending on the movie) and experience the story. However, the experience is not just the movie itself,

There is no doubt that the best part of watching a movie in a theater is the audience. why? reaction.

Whenever I argue about this, my father will say that this is not a scene and you don’t need the audience’s response. For drama, actors want to react, and for movies, the reaction is aimed at the audience. The audience screamed when the lights of "Death Hallows" premiered at midnight dim. 1." When we saw that Captain America was worth it, the gasps in the theater began to rippling. Laughter caused by jokes, screams of joy, gasps of disgust... In some movies, I always do Hear the reaction of the audience at certain moments. The audience is also part of the experience like a dark theater. Of course, we have watched the movie with people, laughter, surprise or joy makes it interesting, but in a crowded theater Inside, it may be ten times better.

Before the pandemic, I noticed that there were empty seats in the theater. I noticed the lack of response from the audience because there are not enough people for you to actually hear it. It's disappointing. Is it just because of the day I went? Time of day? Still lack of interest? With the imminent struggle, can COVID rapidly advance the end of movie theaters? I really hope not.

Personally...I don't think this is the end. I don't think I will ever sit in a theater seat again. I don't think I need to reset the date or time for the next time. I do believe that so far, everything has only been delayed. But I hope I am not the only one who thinks so...because when everything is over, the end may be nearby. We just hope that is not the case.
