In order to ensure unimpeded traffic in and around the Imphal, yesterday the Imphal East and West Traffic Regulations and Parking Committee (TRPC) meeting was held in the Imphal South Secretariat Conference Hall.

At a meeting chaired by the Minister of Transport Vungzagin Valte, the inconvenience and pain caused by traffic congestion in Imphal and its surrounding areas were discussed in detail.

Officials from various departments issued opinions, suggestions and measures to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

A total of 16 agendas were discussed at the meeting.

In order to seek the cooperation and advice of all stakeholders and civil society, V Valte, Minister of Transport, described traffic management as a huge challenge, especially considering the long-term transportation system being implemented in the capital and major towns .

He instructed committee members to explore the introduction of private players to provide parking spaces in the city.

The minister also asked relevant officials to strictly implement the current government regulations, norms and regulations in order to solve the Imphal traffic problem.

Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) P Vaiphei, K Jayanta, IGP (District 1), K Chandrakumar Singh, IMC City Commissioner, Y Narmada Devi, Chief Urban Planner, Dr. Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Director of Transportation, and representatives of MAHUD, Ministry of Transport, PWD and PDA attended the meeting.
