Virtual Hidden Garden Tour: Troy’s popular Hidden Garden Tour returns as a virtual tour. Now in its 21st year, this tour is a fundraising event that benefits Troy's Prospect Park. Usually, tourists have to pay an entrance fee to get a self-service map to more than 40 private gardens, which are only open for one night in the historic sage, Washington Park and nearby communities. In the past few years, the rain event has attracted more than 1,000 tourists in one day. This year's virtual tour includes 28 gardens, which are taken with 360-degree interactive photos, and viewers can browse online using their computers or mobile devices. Twelve gardeners recorded personal video messages, which were embedded in their virtual tour site

. Although most gardens are roughly the same size, about 20 feet by 30 feet, their styles vary greatly. Some gardens feature charming paths, fountains and swimming pools. Some gardens are full of flowers, and some gardens have more plants and vegetables-all gardeners with these skills love them. The online virtual tour is free, but we welcome donations, which will benefit the ongoing improvement project of the historic Prospect Park on Congress Street in Troy. The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization "Friends of Prospect Park" hopes to provide free activity programs in the park in the future, provided that such activities are safe for the public. Donation information can be found on the travel website. The virtual tour can be accessed via a desktop or laptop computer, as well as a tablet or smartphone. Some gardens have a "play" button that will send out a special video message. The gardens are listed by number. The owner’s name is in the left column. Clicking on the round icon will open a 3D tour of the garden. One advantage of the virtual garden tour is that it is always sunny. You can also visit 24 hours a day for at least one month. Recruiting recipes: As part of its 25th anniversary, the Slate Valley Museum plans to produce a new version of its popular original recipe "Cooking in Slate Valley". The museum requires people connected with Slate Valley to breathe new life into the book by sharing their favorite recipes. Over the years, old recipes have been popular items in the museum’s gift shop, which contains many recipes, most of which are closely related to the immigrant heritage of Slate Valley, while the new recipes will continue to include ethnic recipes. However, it will be expanded with a new section dedicated to the recipes of people who are connected to Slate Valley but have no modern immigrants. With the advent of the holidays, the peak baking and cooking season is approaching. The museum committee wants people to remember their recipe projects when browsing their family recipes during the holidays. The museum will collect recipes throughout the fall and throughout the winter, and will announce more details about deadlines and printing after the book’s production schedule is finalized. If you have a recipe you want to share for consideration, please email it to Sarah Kijowski
