The Wyoming Theological Seminary’s Board of Trustees announced that two faculty members of Sem Middle School have been appointed as recipients of two ow professorships. The winners are Rachel Garcia of Kingston, Joseph Donchess Chair of Science; and Christopher J. Kersey of the Sem class in 1990, the newly established American History and American Military The historical chairman of Captain Allan P. Slaff. The honor recognizes the person's outstanding performance in teaching and management, provides allowances to the person, and provides additional funds for the recipient's department. The winner will serve as chairman for five years, and this honor may be renewed. Garcia joined Sem in 2018 as a member of the Department of Science and is currently the head of the Department of Science at the Senior High School. She also served as the co-director of Sweden Hall and the faculty sponsor of the Health Professions Student Association. She also served as a women's basketball coach at Sem for two years and served as the director of Sem's summer activities. Before joining Sem, she worked as an agricultural research analyst in Wray, Colorado for seven years, where she taught at Morgan Community College. She also taught science at junior high and high school in Yuma, Colorado, where she coached basketball and track and field. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Education from Marywood University. Kersey joined Sem in 2002, teaching history and social science elective courses as well as AP US Government and AP Economics courses. He served as the Sem class teacher and led the college men's basketball team as the head coach for 16 years. He has also coached cross-country sports, and has coached women's basketball and boys' basketball for two years in the low school. Before joining Sem, he taught history and social sciences at Culver College in Culver, Indiana for eight years. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Dickinson University and a master's degree in history education from Wilkes University. From left, Rachel Garcia and Christopher J.
